JOB OVERVIEW

At Kent College, Canterbury, we are seeking two Science Technicians to join an outstanding department from September 2024 to support the teaching of Science within the school. The Science Technicians will provide technical support to teaching staff, and will ensure the safe and proper use and maintenance of resources and equipment. Their technical knowledge and skills will support a variety of teaching activities, and as part of our energetic and welcoming team, they will enthuse and motivate students to strive for success while maintaining a healthy environment for all children within the school.

The successful candidate will have good interpersonal skills with experience of working as part of a team, and a well-developed interest in Science is crucial. A Technician NVQ or equivalent or experience in a similar role would be an advantage, but is not essential.

There are two positions available: one in General Science (24 hours per week) and one in Chemistry (35 hours per week). Please indicate in your application which position you are applying for.

WHY CHOOSE US

Kent College is a co-educational school with a Methodist foundation. The school is located in Canterbury, just one hour from the centre of London by train. The Senior School (11 – 18 years) has some 600 boys and girls, approximately one-third boarding and two-thirds day. This is a fabulous opportunity to work for a happy, caring and successful school in which pupils feel supported and encouraged to aim for high standards of achievement and conduct.

The school was graded as excellent in all categories in the recent inspection conducted by ISI in October 2022, the Independent Schools Inspectorate that conducts inspections on behalf of the Secretary of State for Education.

Please see attached Job Pack for more information.

We offer private healthcare with Benenden, reduced gym membership, free on-site parking, free lunch during term time, cycle to work scheme...

Closing date: 22nd May 2024, although if a pool of suitable candidates becomes available before that date the College reserves the right to interview and appoint without further notice.
