Salary : £8.45 per hour

Hours: Mornings  6.30 am to 8.45 am

             Evenings 5.20 pm to 7.40 pm

             Term-time only

We are seeking to appoint a reliable and friendly Minibus Driver to transport pupils to and from authorised locations on an agreed daily route driving a Kent College Minibus or people carrier. Applicants must have high level customer service, a sense of humour and be happy to work with children.

Formal qualifications are not essential, but some experience of working with children within education and driving would be an advantage.

Morning Shift: 6.30am to 8.45am 

Evening Shift:5.20 pm to 7.40 pm

Occasional weekend driving is also available at an enhanced rate.

Job Description 


Dutie and Responsibilities 

  • Driving a Kent College vehicle (usually a Minibus or People Carrier)

  • Responsible for the safety, comfort and welfare of the pupils and staff.

  • Carry out driver’s daily and weekly vehicle checks, and to carry out basic maintenance.

  • Report any vehicle defects, faults, incidents and accidents

  • Be responsible for the cleanliness of vehicles, and ensuring the vehicle is in a clean and roadworthy condition before and after use.

  • Refuel vehicles as required.

  • When required, cover for absent colleagues.

  • Maintain and help to promote a good company image, working attire should be worn at all times and kept in a clean and tidy condition.

  • Work within health and safety guidelines and other guidelines that may be issued from time-to-time

  • Work within the constraints and guidelines as set out in the Minibus Drivers’ Operating Instructions.

  • To undertake any other associated duties as required by the manager.

  • Take responsibility for health and safety of Kent College vehicle and users


  • Attend relevant training courses as identified and agreed, this will include Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme.

  • First Aid at work one day appointed person training


Person Specification 

  • Clean driving licence

  • Experience of driving a large vehicle, preferably an LGV/PSV

  • An ability to communicate with a range of people

  • Reliable and trustworthy.Honest, sense of responsibility and confidentiality.

  • Flexible approach to working arrangements.

  • Sensitivity to user needsWilling to undertake training as appropriate.

  • Willing to undertake additional training to enhance the services delivered by Kent College.
